The appearance requirements of the product.
When designing plastic molds, designers should pay attention to the appearance of the product. If no appearance requirements are specified, plastic molders will prioritize the mold structure when designing the mold, in order to simplify the mold structure and facilitate mold manufacturing. Another factor that affects the appearance of a product is the position of the parting line. If the structure of a plastic mold is complex, there are usually multiple continuous parting lines. This will leave traces on the surface.
Structural changes in plastic molds
Draft angle is the most commonly added feature by mold designers. To facilitate demolding, a 13 degree angle will be added on the vertical plane. Otherwise, the product may not be easy to demould or have scratches. However, due to assembly requirements, this is not allowed in many cases. In addition, mold designers typically recommend adding/removing materials to reduce stress concentration and shrinkage marks caused by rapid changes in material thickness.
Strict tolerance
After the 2D Engineering drawing is provided, the mold designer will carefully check whether there are any too strict tolerance requirements. The engineer will first bring it to the customer. If the customer answers that this is a very important aspect and must not compromise. Our engineers will have to reassess the mold structure to explore possibilities.
